Just got out of my first day on Psych rotation. Feeling a little zombie-esque.

Just got out of my first day on Psych rotation.
Feeling a little zombie-esque.

Officially my last day of clinical for the semester.

Lighting of the Lawn tonight anyone…?
& survivor hour after…?

Things I dislike:

Knowing that when you go into clinical the next morning,
it is very likely that your patient is going to die during your shift.

OB rotation this semester. Saw my first birth for a mom’s first child. She named her Veronica. No biggie.

STOKED.

Such a crazy story too.
Apparently they had been unsure on a name for the longest time, & had Veronica included in a list of several other names. The night before she gave birth, she told her husband not to worry too much about the name & to get some rest & maybe the name would come to him in the night somehow.
The next morning they asked a few med students what name they liked & after hearing the list, they all said they liked the name “Veronica.”

The nurses said that she was in labor for more than 20 hours.
& the mom told me that after I came in & introduced myself, she felt different & knew that the baby was ready to come out. Birth in less than an hour later. Her husband said he was so skeptical on the name & everything else, but after seeing me & his wife’s progression so quickly, he was sure & thought this just had to be a sign. I was wondering why he was giving me an interesting look after he had said my name a couple times from across the room. Haha.

They asked me to take pictures with them, hold the baby, & asked for my e-mail so that they could keep in touch on the progress of baby Veronica & send me the pictures. I told them it was my first birth & they said it was so fitting for their first child & birth too. They were calling me their good luck charm & their angel.

GAH!
This definitely makes up for all the moments
I felt lost or bored at clinical. So awesome. =]
